WOW! Hospital visitors charged $10 for takeaway coffee

Clinton Maynard

A Drive listener explained how he was asked to pay $10 for a takeaway coffee at a Central Coast hospital.

Michael is visiting his brother who is being treated for a brain tumour at Gosford Hospital and contacted Jim Wilson to share his story about a ban on disposable cups.

Michael and his wife say they were told the local hospital cafe refuses to sell takeaway coffee because they’re a “sustainable cafe” and believe “takeaway cups aren’t good for the environment”.

Cook and Granger cafe says it doesn’t offer disposable takeaway coffee, instead they encourage customers to buy a reusable cup for $10.

Michael told Jim Wilson it’s “ridiculous” and brings even more stress.
