World Vision turns the tables on sponsors by giving kids power to pick

International humanitarian charity World Vision has reversed the roles in their child sponsorship program, handing power back to kids in poverty.

World Vision Australia CEO Daniel Wordsworth told Deborah Knight sponsorship allows donors to see a direct impact not only on one child, but also their family and whole community.

“You actually get to know the child … you’re getting photographs, you’re getting letters, you’re getting a progress report.

“You get to go on the journey of transformation.”

The charity has also flipped the program on its head, allowing the children to choose by sending them photos of their would-be sponsors.

“We video that, so it’s a really beautiful moment where you get to watch the child … picking you.”
