Woman carjacked, police track thief using stolen mobile phone
Police have tracked down a man who carjacked a luxury vehicle in broad daylight at an eastern suburbs shopping centre.
Just before 5pm on Monday, a 52-year-old woman got into her Porsche Macan 4WD on the top level of Westfield Eastgardens.
As she was starting the car a man jumped into the front passenger seat and allegedly threatened her with what’s believed to have been a stun gun.
He told the woman to drive but she jumped out and ran.
The man got into the driver’s seat and took off from the shopping centre.
The woman left her mobile phone in the Porsche which police used to track to nearby Wentworth Avenue at Eastlakes.
Police found a 42-year-old man coming out of bushes and placed him under arrest.
He’s been charged with multiple offences and refused bail to face court today.
Detectives are investigating if there is a possible co-offender, still at large.
