The Penrith Panthers are preparing to offer a new contract to Nathan Cleary and his father, Ivan after a successful few years at the club.

The Panthers’ halfback and captain, is currently contracted until the end of 2024, and the club is set to offer him a long-term deal worth $1.1 million a season, which will see the 24-year-old contracted until he is at least 30 years old.

With one year remaining on Ivan’s current deal, the club is discussing potentially another two or three years on top of the existing deal.

CEO of the Panthers Brian Fletcher told Mark Levy and Billy Slater, “We would like Nathan to be a one-club player”.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all locked away in the next few weeks.”
