The “level-headed” Cameron Davis wasn’t banking on making the cut for the Presidents Cup.

The 27-year-old has been named as one of five rookies in Trevor Immelman’s picks for the world team.

But he admitted to Ray Hadley in an effort not to derail his progress, he tried not to entertain the idea of making the team.

“I just tried to play the best golf that I possibly could and hopefully that was enough to catch their eye and in the end, it was.”

The shock call-up comes at a good time for Davis, who says he lost his sense of direction last year.

“For a little while there I might have gotten a little too comfortable after that win,” he said.

“I think I needed a bit more direction.”
