Why Scott Morrison’s secret jobs shouldn’t be ignored

A constitutional expert says the Australian public should not simply accept Scott Morrison’s secret appointment to multiple portfolios.
The former prime minister secretly took joint control of five cabinet roles during the pandemic: treasury, health, finance, home affairs and resources.
University of Sydney Professor of Constitutional Law Anne Twomey told Deborah Knight the constitution doesn’t ban this behaviour.
“The real issue here is doing it in secret.
“None of the former prime minister’s explanations actually stack up as to why he did what he did.
“We need to make a fuss to set standards so that these things don’t happen in the future.”
