Pauline Hanson has decided to spend her New Year’s Eve answering calls from lonely Australians.

The One Nation leader says she wanted to help those who are lonely and struggling on the last day of the year, and is encouraging them to reach out to her tonight.

She will use Facebook and new technology to field calls from lonely Australians from 6pm onwards.

There will be 16 lines available and a psychologist will be on hand.

Senator Hanson tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan it’s never been done before.

“I feel very sorry for a lot of people in the public who are sitting at home by themselves, they don’t know anyone, especially on New Year’s Eve.

“Why not? Give it a go, see how it goes.”
