Michael McLaren has revealed why he thinks every high school student should study history during their HSC.

His comments come after he read a Guardian Essential poll which suggested to him young voters don’t know what various governments have tried.

“If it were [compulsory to study], I’m convinced we’d have a smarter electorate and in particular, a greater cohort of voters that’d be educated about some of the mistakes in the past,” he said.
