Northern Rivers residents have been making their voices heard at the first communal NSW flood inquiry.

NSW President of the Planning Institute Sharon Smith told Deborah Knight locals will have to consider what they want their town to look like moving forward.

“We just don’t want to build back what we’ve got,” she said.

“They need to talk to the community in a deep and significant way.”
