The $100,000 Archibald Prize winner has been announced.

Dhungutti artist Blak Douglas has won the Archibald Prize for his portrait of Wiradjuri artist Karla Dickens.

For the second time in its 101-year history, an Indigenous artist has won the prize.

Blak Douglas told Deborah Knight he decided to portray Karla due to her “upcycling”.

“It was time to paint her,” he said.
