White author told she can’t write about other races

An acclaimed white novelist has again been attacked for featuring characters that aren’t from her own race.

American author Lionel Shriver has spent years fighting “identity politics” threatening to suppress art.

Australian journalist Ruby Hamad has accused Ms Shriver of misrepresenting minorities and not taking responsibility for white oppression in the past, on the ABC.

Shriver says trying to “imagine being different people” is her job and to ban fiction writers from doing so would create “a kind of weird literary apartheid”.

Mark Latham tells Alan Jones the attack is absurd.

“We are losing innovation and creativity as a society because of this reign of oppressive political correctness.

“This is an age of oppression, it’s taking us back to the Middle Ages.”
