Where the ABC should start to ‘prove itself to the Australian people’

Ben Fordham is calling on the ABC to correct the record after accusing Afghan veterans of war crimes.

The ABC report alleged soldiers from the November Platoon murdered a prisoner, but the unidentified US Marine making the claim was not a witness but rather heard ‘a pop on the radio’ he assumed was a gunshot.

“Taxpayers want the ABC to be more accountable and to own mistakes when they’re made,” Ben said.

The public broadcaster has a legal team of 36 lawyers, who take on defamation cases when the ABC refuses to correct the record.

“If the ABC is looking for somewhere to start to prove to Parliament, and to the Australian people, that they take these matters seriously, maybe they should start with November Platoon.”
