What’s being done about the immense challenge facing our young veterans?

Article image for What’s being done about the immense challenge facing our young veterans?

In the lead up to ANZAC Day, the focus is rightly on our veterans.

For young veterans leaving the defence force, the transition back into civilian life can be fraught with challenges.

The not-for-profit organisation Soldier On helps with integration and in the last two years, the focus has been heavily on getting returned veterans into the work they deserve.

CEO of Soldier On John Bale speaks with Chris Kenny.

“Our fear… is they’re being underemployed. They’re getting jobs but the jobs aren’t really the ones that they deserve,” John says.

“Their skill set isn’t being properly used.

“There’s a lot of companies that are starting to get on board with this.”

John has also detailed one very special way you can thank our serving personnel this ANZAC Day.
