With temperatures expected to increase to 29 degrees this weekend, it’s a timely reminder that bushfire season is not far away.

The early taste of summer comes as the New South Wales Rural Fire Service launch “Get Ready Weekend” this weekend, urging residents to be bushfire ready.

Rural Fire Services Commissioner Rob Rogers says it’s about being as prepared as possible for the fire season.

“It’s a time before we get into the fire season for people to have a good look at their own property, make sure their property is prepared as it can be, and make sure their family’s prepared,” he told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive.

“There is no excuse this year, everybody’s at home.

“Everybody can actually put that time in this weekend to trim overhanging trees, mow the grass, remove the grass, don’t have combustibles around the home, clean out the gutters, and have a hose that goes all the way around your property.”
