Quilpie Shire Council is set to release a record 18 blocks of land for auction later this week.

With a population of close to 800, Quilpie has opportunities on the market.

However, they are experiencing a shortage of housing to attract people to the region.

The council’s CEO Justin Hancock told Joe Hildebrand the auction is hot on the heels of the announcement of a Regional Home Guarantee in the federal budget.

“We want to see our population grow.

“If you build a new home and live in it for 6 months, you can get up to $12,500 back as an incentive.”
