Space engineer Dr Chris Boshuizen is strapping in alongside Hollywood star William Shatner on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space capsule.

The former NASA engineer has three days of “very intense” training in Texas ahead of him, he told Deborah Knight, before he’s allowed to board his spaceflight.

“It’s going to get pretty real very soon here.”

He shared what he’ll be packing in his Blue Origin goodie bag to take to space.

“One of the cool things is my mum painted a painting for me this week … which I’m printing tomorrow morning before I fly.

“I’m going to take that up with me, and see if I can get my co-passengers to sign it!”
