Both 2021 NRL Grand Final teams are fish out of water, bubbled up in a Queensland resort instead of preparing to duke it out in Sydney’s Stadium Australia.

Penrith Panthers co-captain Isaah Yeo told Mark Levy and Brad Fittler the team are missing out on soaking up their hometown atmosphere in the lead-up.

“That’s probably the thing we’ve missed out the most the last couple of years.

“This time last year … was a real COVID bubble, so you weren’t allowed outside your house so you didn’t really know how the Penrith community was going.

“Penrith’s a real football community, and it’s obviously a special occasion for everyone back home there and we’re … not there to witness it.

“I just hope we’re doing them proud, and giving them something to cheer about on Sunday.”
