Lengthy delays at Sydney Airport are beginning to taper off after seeing valet parking lanes closed off. 

Queues for security screening extended to more than 150 metres after a number of security contractors called in sick.

It meant a number of security lanes that would otherwise be open remained closed this morning.

Today reporter Lara Vella told Mark Levy, filling in for Ray Hadley, travellers should expect long delays when travelling nowadays.

“This is really becoming the new normal for passengers who are flying out of Sydney, particularly on a Monday and a Friday.”
