Fresh produce prices are set to soar amid devastating floods across the east coast.

National Farmers Federation President Fiona Simson told Deborah Knight price hikes similar to that of $12 lettuce are likely to be replicated.

“Salad, vegies … a lot of those are grown in Victoria.

“Goods like dairy is very big in Victoria and it has been seriously impacted.”

But she warns the impact will change.

“I think there could be some widespread spikes and shortages and it will just be a matter of where the floods go and how much they impact.”
