Parents are being warned against identifying favourite children to avoid any trauma in the long term.

Dr Justin Coulson told Deborah Knight there are a number of ramifications for children who recognise favouritism.

“We’ve got to love our kids unconditionally, regardless of whether they please us or not because it’s not our life, it’s theirs.”
