This morning Prime Minister Anthony Albanese unveiled a new arts investment and advisory body.

The policy is expected to prioritise First Nations content and increased diversity and support for artists and it is also expected to include Australian quotas for multinational streaming services.

“Creative Australia’  will have four agencies:

  • Music Australia, which will support investment in contemporary music.
  • Writers Australia, which will support writers and illustrators.
  • The Centre for Arts and Entertainment Workplaces, which will work towards creatives being paid fairly.
  • And a new First Nations-led body.

Aussie actor Rodger Corser told Deborah Knight the investment ensures Aussies’ stories are “told long into the future.”

“It makes sure the industry is safe and can keep going.”

CEO of Screen Producers Australia Matt Deaner told Deborah Knight it’s a good investment backing local content.
