What cost the Coalition the election: David Elliott’s post-mortem
An outgoing state minister believes One Nation is responsible for splitting votes in key western Sydney seats.
While support for the minor party was lower than initially forecast, former transport minister David Elliott says it managed to draw votes away from the Coalition.
“They certainly cost us seats in western Sydney; they certainly cost us Penrith, they certainly cost us Camden, they probably cost us Wollondilly,” he told Ray Hadley.
“We need to define ourselves and we need people to know there is going to be a home for them in the Liberal Party, moving forward.”
