Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is currently in Fiji meeting with leaders for the Pacific Forum.

Jim Wilson has raised the question of what results we can expect from the meeting and where Australia’s position lies in the region.

Peter Jennings from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute joined Drive explain.

“Albanese is going to have to invest his own personal effort, he can’t just leave it to his ministers,” he said.

“The more of that we can do, the message gets to these island countries that they don’t have to turn to China.”

When asked whether or not the Solomon Islands are now a lost cause, Mr Jennings said,

“Sogavare is a lost cause.”
