What Brad Fittler thinks is missing from Billy Slater’s résumé for QLD coaching gig

With Paul Green quitting as Queensland Maroons coach, Billy Slater and Johnathan Thurston are in contention to replace him.

NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler admitted to Mark Levy he wasn’t surprised by Green’s decision.

“I think everyone knew that Paul Green’s ambition was to become an NRL coach again.”

While Billy Slater is an excellent analyst, Freddy said, club coaching experience is very desirable for an Origin coach.

“There’s a lot I’ve learned over the last four years where, without the experience I had at the Roosters, then I would’ve suffered a lot.

“The one thing I do do when I pick my staff is make sure I get an awful lot of NRL club experience.”
