Deborah Knight has called out the Prime Minister for trying to take credit for the pay rise for pensioners.

The maximum rate of pension will increase to $1,026.50 a fortnight for singles and $773.80 for each member of a pensioner couple.

The increase will be part of a routine recalibration to keep up with changes in the Consumer Price Index.

But Anthony Albanese has been crediting his government for the rise.

“What absolute rot!” Deborah said.

“How stupid do you think we are? You can’t take credit for what you haven’t done.”
