What a legend! Elderly man takes it upon himself to help motorists stranded by flooding
An elderly man is being praised for selflessly stepping in to help motorists stuck in rising floodwaters.
The local Northbridge resident noticed the Strathallen Avenue bridge, in Sydney’s north, was blocked due to the torrential rain.
An SES volunteer for 30 years, the man took matters into his own hands, grabbing a stick and getting to work.

The man walked up and down the bridge, unblocking every drain along the way.
Within about 10 minutes, the water had receded enough for cars to pass safely.
What a legend!
