Chris Smith has slammed a “laughable” petition to create a new public holiday in NSW.

The Australian Workers’ Union has started a petition to turn “Freedom Day” – the day NSW hits 70 per cent double vaccinated – into a public holiday.

“What a bunch of bludgers, how tone-deaf can they be?!” Chris Smith said.

“Hundreds of thousands of Sydneysiders have lost their jobs in this lockdown, they would love to work but don’t have that choice!”
