‘We owe it to them’: Minister acknowledges Western Sydney’s road toll pain

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has extended a financial assistance package to provide small businesses with road toll and other rebates of up to $2000 dollars.

The package also includes a $20,000 dollar guarantee for businesses which lose perishable stock amid snap lockdowns or listing as an exposure site.

While the provisions are due to expire in June 2022, Minister Damien Tudehope told Jim Wilson he’s not ruling out an extension.

“I’m the Minister for Small Business, and anything I can do or achieve for small businesses, I want to achieve.

“The budget occurs next June, let’s have a look at it again then.”

Mr Tudehope admitted tolls are a particularly significant expense for Western Sydney businesses.

“They have made enormous sacrifices … and I think we owe it to them to acknowledge the contribution they’ve made.”
