A climate activist was arrested earlier today after blocking traffic to Port Botany and a legal expert believes Australian laws need to be tougher.

Sam Macedone from Macedone Legal told Jim Wilson the courts have to be a lot stricter than they have been in the past due to most legislations only providing fines.

“They’re treating these things as minor indiscretions when in reality, you should look at the bigger picture.

Mr Macedone said the recent matters need to be taken to The Supreme Court.

“We need a bigger overall approach.”
