WATCH | Toongabbie home set alight while residents sleep
Residents in Sydney’s west have had their home set alight while they were asleep, for the second time in just a few months.
Just after midnight on April 24, three men – aged 58, 68 and 71 – were awoken when their house on Metella Road at Toongabbie went up in flames.
Accelerant was allegedly poured over the front porch and set alight.
All three men managed to escape the home without injury but the roof at the front of the home suffered significant damage.
Detectives have now released CCTV footage showing a car pull up out the front before a man runs from the blaze.
It’s not the first time the home has been targeted.
A similar incident took place in the days before Christmas, last year.
The same three men were asleep in the home during that first incident on December 22, with the 68-year-old suffering minor burns.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
