Clinton Maynard

A giant fig tree tore free of its foundations and flattened a sports car with a driver inside it in inner Sydney this morning.

Jason Chong was the driver and was on his way to work in Maroubra.

Mr Chong heard a loud ‘crack’ as he drove near Redfern Park in Redfern and that’s when the tree hit the car.

Nine News reporter Charles Croucher told Jim Wilson the driver is lucky to be alive.

“We are talking millimetres in it.”
