A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old boy on a school bus on Wednesday.

Horrifying footage shows the man boarding the bus and punching a child in the face.

The bus was full of students from The Shore School, a prestigious all-boys private school on the North Shore.

Police say the 20-year-old man was involved in a minor crash with the bus on Burns Bay Road at Lane Cove.

It’s alleged he then boarded the school bus, punched a 15-year-old student in the face and threatened a 13-year-old student before fleeing in his car.

The boy suffered bruising, a laceration to his eye and a chipped tooth after the attack.

Shore Headmaster Dr Timothy Wright has confirmed the incident occurred while students were returning from a sporting event (full statement below).

The 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and affray.

A 19-year-old woman was also charged with affray following the alleged attack.

Both have been granted conditional bail to appear in court in December.

“Shore can confirm an incident yesterday involving a group of students returning from a sporting engagement on a Shore bus and a member of the public.

A Shore student was struck by the member of the public during the incident. Police were called and are now investigating the circumstances.

Shore’s priority is attending to the welfare of the boys involved.

As the matter is the subject of a Police investigation the school will not be commenting further.”
