Police are hunting a serial firebug who has repeatedly targeted a home in Sydney’s west.

New CCTV footage has been released, showing the man setting fire to a home on Baker Street at Merrylands on September 12.

He can be seen on top of a ladder at the side of the property, before the unoccupied house bursts into flames.

Footage shows him running from the scene with the ladder under his arm.

Firefighter managed to extinguish the blaze but the property suffered significant damage.

The incident comes less than four months after the same property was set alight.

At 4.30am on May 28, emergency services were called to the property when it was under construction.

They found it and a Suzuki Ignis well alight.

Police believe both fires were started with an accelerant and it’s believed the same man is responsible for both incidents.
