WATCH | Reckless Sydneysiders nearly hit by new light rail

The NSW government has released footage of Sydneysiders nearly being hit by trams to warn people to stay alert around the new tracks.

Sydney’s new light rail is about to commence daylight testing from Moore Park to Circular Quay.

But the government is urging people to stay alert by releasing a shocking video of near-misses during the testing phase.

Some cars are shown driving on the tracks, and several cyclists are showing riding out directly in front of the trams.

NSW Transport Co-Ordinator General Marg Prendergast tells Ben Fordham the government deliberately released the videos to warn people to be alert as testing begins.

“We just want pedestrians to look up from their mobile phone and be aware of what’s happening.”
