Five Gold Coast men have been charged with multiple child sex offences following an undercover police operation. 

It’s alleged the men, aged between 22 and 58, used the internet to access a child with the intention of engaging in sexual acts with them.

The men thought they were chatting online with a parent who was willing to hand their child over.

They are accused of arranging to meet with the child in an attempt to perform sexual acts on them.

However, they didn’t realise the parent they were allegedly speaking to was in fact officers from a specialist police taskforce investigating child exploitation and abuse.

Police swooped over the last four days, with arrests being made in apartments, at a bus stop and in a driveway.

Officers have released body camera footage of the arrests.
