The Federal Circuit and Family court have released a video aimed at discouraging couples from getting involved in unnecessary court battles.

Every new litigant will be required to watch the short video, which focuses on a child caught in the middle of her separating parents.

Family Court of Australia Chief Justice Will Alstergren told Ben Fordham divorces are costly.

“The other way is mediation.

“We want to really encourage people … to think, what am I trying to achieve?”
