Former deputy premier John Barilaro has broken his silence after a video emerged of an altercation with a cameraman on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Ben Fordham has been sent footage of the incident which occurred outside a Manly bar on Saturday night.

The video is being investigated by police.

Mr Barilaro told Ben Fordham he wants to give evidence to the Parliamentary inquiry examining the Trade Commissioner’s role.

“I’ve stayed quiet during this whole ordeal.

“I’m being absolutely intruded on and harrassed … the media at the forefront.”

Peter Cochran’s full statement:

“John Barilaro is a private citizen who has committed no offence.

He’s being denied his freedom and is being harassed by the media.

The media needs to back off.”
