This Christmas the Smith Family will celebrate their centenary by bringing festive joy to 32,000 Australian families in need.

CEO Doug Taylor told Deborah Knight since the 1920s, the charity has supported Aussie children through multiple wars, natural and economic disasters.

The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has posed new challenges for the Smith Family as it has done for all Australians.

“We’re not able to do the meet-in-person practice of collating gifts and books and toys and distributing them, as we’ve been doing for 100 years.

“So this is the first Christmas that we’re going online and using gift vouchers.”
