Australian Aboriginal leader Warren Mundine has questioned why people are upset with Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews plans to change the name of the  Maroondah Hospital.

Daniel Andrews stated he would change the name of Maroondah Hospital in Melbourne’s east to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital if re-elected.

Some are calling the move a “insult” as it’s an axe to the Indigenous name and the First Nations people.

Mr Mundine told Joe Hildebrand he finds the outcry over the name “ridiculous”.

“When you’re saying it’s ‘culturally unsafe’, what does that mean!?”

“I don’t understand this cultural indifference, it’s just bizarre.”
