Warren Mundine on Australia Day: The Greens are ‘dividing the nation’

Indigenous leader and former politician Warren Mundine has accused the Greens of dividing Australians.

Mr Mundine tells Chris Kenny the age-old ‘change the date’ debate does nothing to unite the nation.

“You get the same people arguing the same cases trying to divide the country when we should be trying to work together.

“I want to celebrate Australia because we’ve got a great country here.”

Although Mr Mundine supports changing the date of Australia Day to the 1st of January to honour federation, he says most Indigenous Australians don’t care.

“I never get asked about Australia Day and changing the date. It’s more about education, jobs and health.

“I’ve been out in the bush for three months and not one person has raised it with me.”
