Wally the Walrus given his own pontoon to stop him from sinking people’s boats

A pontoon is being prepared for an 800-kilogram walrus in Ireland to stop him from sinking  boats.

Wally the Walrus was first spotted in County Kerry back in March, but has since travelled 4,000 kilometres across Europe, being seen in France, Spain and the UK.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group says he sinks at least one or two boats in every harbour he enters.

Luke Grant spoke to Pádraig Whooley, the Sightings Officer at the IWDG.

He’s told Luke about how Wally came to Ireland, and the plan to stop the sea mammal from tipping over boats.
