Nominations for the State Election close at lunchtime as the Liberal party makes a surprise pick for the south coast seat of Kiama.

Current Holsworthy MP Melanie Gibbons will run against now-independent Gareth Ward, after she lost Liberal pre-selection for her own seat.

And One Nation Leader Mark Latham has told Ben Fordham his party will double the number of its candidates to 17 and is ready for a challenge against Matt Kean.
