Volunteer heroes revive Zig Zag Railway: Iconic tourist attraction to reopen!

Ray Hadley

Dozens of dedicated volunteers have tirelessly remodelled and repainted train carriages and the station building, ensuring the Zig Zag Railway in Lithgow is ready for its reopening.

After a decade-long hiatus, this iconic tourist attraction will welcome the public again next weekend (27th May).

Lee Wiggins, the Operations Manager and a volunteer for over 25 years, recently drove the fully refurbished AC16 218A locomotive, expressing his excitement to Ray Hadley.

“It’s a real privilege to drive a train that looks so top class,” said Mr Wiggins.
