More than a thousand Australians are being recognised in the annual Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Racing journalist Bart Sinclair has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for services to horse racing.

Sinclair, who retired from Newscorp in 2012 and is now racing manager for the Brisbane Racing Club, tells Ray Hadley it’s a touching tribute.

“Had a little family celebration yesterday and broke the news to our immediate family and it was a wonderful feeling.

“I think it’s a bit of a recognition for the racing industry and for my family.”
