Tahnia Cook is asking for your help to rebuild the Le Life Resort on Vanuatu after it was destroyed by a twin cyclone and earthquake.
“The whole country is in a state of devastation now,” Tahnia, who has run the resort for 10 years, said.
Tahnia’s dad and partner were pushed under the water for 24 seconds unable to breathe.
“Dad was in the restaurant area taking photos of the first cyclone that hit on that Wednesday afternoon, then out of nowhere they saw the water rise up from the ocean,” she said.
“They didn’t get time to run, to move or hide. It just it knocked them straight off their feet. It barricaded them in a spot they could not get out and it allowed the water to build up.”
She said it was the most terrifying thing that had ever happened to him but he managed to keep his phone on, recording, the whole time.
