Former 2GB and Tapt Media broadcaster Derryn Hinch has passed away.

The former Senator, who was well-known as the human headline, passed away in his sleep after a long battle with a series of infections following a fall he had last year.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told 2GB Afternoons that Hinch had a mind for stories.

‘He was a remarkable human,” he said.
