‘Utterly disgraceful’: Indigenous Senator Jacinta Price condemns Greens’ flag removal

Article image for ‘Utterly disgraceful’: Indigenous Senator Jacinta Price condemns Greens’ flag removal

Respected Indigenous leader and NT Senator Jacinta Price has slammed Green MPs’ refusal to stand in front of the Australian flag.

This comes after Greens MP Lidia Thorpe told The Project the she believes the flag “has no permission to be here”.

Senator Price told Jim Wilson: “I think its utterly disgraceful and disrespectful … If they feel so strongly about what the flag represents, why are they there in the first place?”

The Senator also raised the question of whether the Governor General needs to step in.

“Is it grounds for dismissal? … As far as I’m concerned it certainly opens up that conversation and the need to have a closer look at what this means,” she said.
