Unwell Smith adds to Australia woes

Steve Smith is feeling unwell, though the in-form skipper will still face England at the MCG on Thursday.

Australia captain Steve Smith will take to the field for day three of the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne, despite not feeling 100 per cent.

Paceman Pat Cummins felt the effects of an upset stomach on Wednesday, forced to leave the MCG on several occasions, though he carried on against England.

A stomach bug seems to be sweeping through the Australia team, with Smith also feeling unwell, according to Cricket Australia.

However, the in-form skipper will be on the ground as Australia – who have already reclaimed the Ashes courtesy of an unassailable 3-0 series lead – look to wrestle control back from England.

Alastair Cook posted a timely century – his 32nd Test ton – to lead England to 192-2 overnight in response to Australia’s 327.

Joe Root was dismissed for 61 before drinks on Day 3 after Patrick Cummins dismissed him with Nathan Lyon taking the easiest of catches at deep backward square leg.
