The federal government isn’t expecting the Omicron strain to delay Australia’s economic recovery.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will deliver a mid-year budget update expected to show the Australian economy will add one million jobs over the next four years.

He told Chris Smith the budget assumes Omicron won’t lead to more lockdowns or delay reopening.

“There will be new variants and it shouldn’t automatically lead to a closure of borders.”
