Treasurer ‘absolutely’ confident Joe Hockey has done nothing wrong

The Treasurer is confident Australia’s ambassador to the US has done nothing wrong as he’s engulfed in a travel scandal.

A former employee of travel company Helloworld says his boss was able to quickly organise a meeting with an Australian embassy because former treasurer Joe Hockey ”owed him a favour”.

Helloworld Chief Executive Andrew Burnes denies ever saying that but Labor has seized on the allegations.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg tells Alan Jones it’s just mud-slinging from the Opposition.

“Obviously Labor has used that as a distraction this week from their weakness on border protection and their exposure on the retirees’ tax.

“But the facts in relation to that Helloworld case need to be pointed out.

“Labor gave a contract to a company related to Andrew Burns in 2012 and it was the Coalition who gave a contract to one of his competitors in 2014.”

Alan Jones asks, “Are you completely convinced that Joe Hockey is in the clear?”

“Absolutely!” says Mr Frydenberg.
